Caila & Nick :: Beautiful Annapolis Wedding

Weddings with Mary :: Annapolis, Maryland

The place where Nick asked Caila to marry him (sneak peak from Day After Session – coming soon!)

When Nick called me about his wedding it was an instantaneous connection.  We both grew up in Annapolis (years apart…by several) He lived in Sherwood Forest, a place I frequented in my teen years with all my friends.  It’s a special place.  Almost like Annapolis’ own little year-round summer camp.  It’s nestled in the woods reaching down to the shores of the bay.  We talked about the pier and the little store and the good times we spent there with our own friends.  It made me smile. This was where he would marry Caila – at home, by the bay, near his history.

He went on to tell me about his Father, who passed away years ago,  who was a photographer in the advertising business. He spoke about him with such joy and enthusiasm.  I knew right at that moment how important these images of his wedding day was going to be to him and his family.

When we met in person it was like talking to an old friend with the love of his life, Caila, next to him.  They were both so excited about spending their life together.

Flash forward to the wedding day – Sherwood Forest Club house.  It’s raining off and on.  But, no matter.  The smiles are ear to ear and wedding day chaos is in full swing.

This is Caila & Nick, starting their history together near a family home with everyone they love and care for holding them tight and cheering them on.

xoxoxo Mary

And  a special thank you to Robin Shotola for helping me capture their day!

They had a special first dance for good friends whose father could not be present on their wedding day, but was here to witness this one!

Beautiful pictures, Mary – you do such an amazing job of capturing people and their essence.

Foxworth Four :: Maryland Family Photographer

Sessions with Mary :: Clipper Mill Studio

When I photograph weddings, I always leave wondering what path the couples lives will take.  After such a sacred day, what happens next?  Where will they be? What will they do?  I asked these same questions about  Ashley & Domonique when I photographed their wedding a few years back.

Flash forward to 2013.  Ashley & Domonique are parents to two adorable kids.  Their vivacious and busy 2-year old girl,  Avery.  And their newest bundle, Declan.  Life is, well, much different now.

They came for a visit to my studio recently.

Sophie & Jack :: Baltimore Engagement Session

Sessions with Mary :: Baltimore, MD

I love to people watch.  It’s a favorite past time when I’m out and about.  I always try to figure out the relationships between people.  I watch body language and facial expressions and emotions.  I kind of work the same way when I have a camera in my hand.  I watch and wait with the hope of capturing real emotion within the moment. And it wasn’t really hard to do with Sophie and Jack.  If you imagine a sky full of lightening, that’s what it’s like between them when they look at each other.  When they are near each other.

We carried that spark with us around Fells Point.
